Invite some colour and texture into your room
Before you unpack, your room will always feel like it’s craving colour and personality.
You have a blank canvas available to you when you move in, so bringing in pops of colour can transform the space into a personalised extension of yourself. There is so much psychology behind colour choice, so understanding how it can make you feel and impact your mood could be a good place to start.
Warm colours, such as yellow, orange and red are ideal for creating a cosy, comfortable feeling in the room.
If you want a calming space, consider picking out cool colours like green, blue and purple.
Or simulate creativity by surrounding yourself with bright, bold colours.

Pack it up!
Efficient storage is every university students dream, especially if you don’t travel light.
It’s hard enough having to pick through the ‘necessities’ when you’re packing for uni, but what happens if you don’t quite have enough room for everything?
And then, just as you’ve unpacked your clothes comes the chilling thought, ‘where do I put all of my shoes?’
There are loads of ways to store things around your student room to make the best use of the available space.
From foldable plastic clothes hangers to multi-layer shoe storage towers. If there’s a will, there’s a way.
And don’t assume these storage solutions can’t be aesthetically pleasing to the eye either!
Multi-use footstools are one of our favourite additions to a student room. It gives you the best of both worlds with a statement piece of furniture that also doubles as an extra place to store things in.
Check out these ones available on Amazon, https://amzn.eu/d/2aKhaYT.

Hello nature!
You may not be naturally gifted at keeping plants alive, but that shouldn’t deter you from bringing some greenery into your room. And if you do have a green thumb… we envy you.
Either way there are some low maintenance plants such as ferns and succulents that are easy to maintain and stay with you well after your Uni days are over.
But if you’re a commitment-phobe and even that feels like too much pressure, there are loads of cute, artificial yet realistic looking plants you could pick up to decorate your room with (we promise we won’t tell anyone they’re fake – although they will need dusting!).
What’s more is that you can even have some fun picking out plant pots which add a splash of colour to your room too.
We know decorating your new room is an important moment for all students moving in, and however you decide to do it, don’t be afraid to add your personality throughout. Afterall, that room will be your new home during your time studying and you should feel comfortable in it.
Let us know how you plan to decorate your room for September or if you’ve already started picking out supplies! We can’t wait to see your budding interior designer come out.
