Surviving Wet Weather Days at Project Student: 5 Tips For Staying Motivated at Uni
Winter might nearly be “officially” over, but that doesn’t mean that you can pack away the umbrellas and thermals just yet. March has an average temperature of 6 degrees, and don’t forget that last March (2022) it rained for 20 days. Bleak eh?
Never fear! We have pulled together our tips for staying warm, dry, prepared and motivated until spring officially starts on the 20th. Whether you’re battling a winter cold by working out in Sheffield’s Portobello Point Gym or staying warm and cosy by lounging in the chill spaces of Leicester One, The Button Factory, or Ty Glyn, here are some tips to help you brave the weather and stay motivated at uni.
Bundle Up in Warm Clothing On The Way To University Lectures
Don’t pack your winter essentials away just yet. From winter coats to scarves and hats, make sure your wardrobe is equipped with layers that provide both warmth and comfort for your travels too and from Uni. If you do venture out without a coat, we recommend packing a pac-a-mac in your bag – just in case it starts to rain! Being prepared for the weather ensures you can focus on your studies without worrying about being damp and cold whilst sitting in a lecture hall.
Maintain a Healthy Diet – On A Student Budget
When it’s wet and dark outside, it can be easy to curl up and watch Netflix, but difficult to stay motivated and focused on self lead studying. Nourish your body with healthy meals packed with nutritious foods to boost your immunity and energy levels. Incorporating foods like walnuts and blueberries (for a student budget friendly option, try frozen) into your diet can provide essential nutrients to keep you healthy and motivated during lectures and study sessions.
Stay Active Indoors In Your University Gym or Get Outside
Don’t let the weather dampen your spirits! Stay active by engaging in outdoor activities like jogging, cycling, rowing or simply taking a stroll to enjoy the scenery. For indoor workouts, make use of the gym, like the one at Portobello Point in Sheffield or your university gym. Keeping active not only warms you up on particularly chilly days, but also uplifts your mood. Find more ways to stay fit and healthy here.
Cosy Up with a Weighted Blanket In Your Student Accommodation
On rainy weekends when venturing outside seems daunting, embrace the comfort and warmth of a weighted blanket. Curl up with it during study breaks or movie nights with your flatmates and friends from your course, creating a cosy atmosphere that boosts your mood and recharges you for the week ahead.
Stay Warm in Class with a Hot Drink
Beat the chill during early morning lectures by bringing a thermos flask or a Stanley cup filled with your favourite warm drink. Sipping on a hot drink not only keeps you warm but also helps you stay focused and attentive during classes.
Heating Worries? Not at Project Student!
Living at Project Student accommodation means you can focus on your studies without worrying about heating costs. With bills included, you can stay warm and comfortable throughout the colder months, allowing you to stay motivated and excel in your university journey!
